Motorist Sought in Fatal Accident at 7600 Westpark

April 20, 2009 - Houston police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a motorist who fled the scene following a fatal traffic accident in the 7600 block of Westpark about 5:45 p.m. on Sunday (April 19). 

The victim, Andres Venancio Hernandez, 31, a pedestrian, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer G. Weinschreider reported: 

A black and gray Chevrolet Suburban, with a tan Honda Accord to the left of it, were traveling east on Westpark approaching the intersection of Hillcroft.  As Mr. Hernandez was in the east crosswalk, he was struck by the Honda as it passed through the intersection.  Hernandez was then pushed in front of the Suburban and was struck a second time.  The driver of the Honda then fled the scene in an unknown direction while the driver of the Suburban called police. 

The investigation is continuing.
