Investigation Into Fatal Shooting at 5000 Neches

August 25, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found in the 5000 block of Neches about 7 a.m. today.

The male victim suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Senior Police Officers D.S. Vasquez reported:

Patrol officers observed a gray Buick Park Avenue parked on the side of the road with its hazard lights on. The officer approached the vehicle and found the victim slumped over in the driver seat with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A gun was found on his lap, wrapped in a towel.

The investigation is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
