Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 12600 South Main

August 31, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 12600 South Main about 5 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 30).

The suspect, Christina Lynn Stonebarger (w/f, DOB: 12-2-73), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. She is accused in the killing of Michelle Stansel, 36, of the above address. Ms. Stansel suffered a stab wound to the chest and died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer D. Shorten reported:

The victim and suspect were friends, living in the same motel. They were arguing in Stonebarger's motel room when Stonebarger stabbed Ms. Stansel one time in the chest. Stonebarger initially fled, but returned while police were at the scene.
