Investigation Into Male’s Death at 10400 Willie

December 16, 2009 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found in the 10400 block of Willie about 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 15).

The victim, Luis Gonzalo Rivera Pineda, 28, who had no visible signs of trauma, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. A. Odom and Senior Police Officer J. L. Coffelt reported:

Patrol officers responded to a person-down call and were met by a family member of Mr. Pineda, who had found his body. The family member told officers Pineda had been traveling from Florida to Guatemala. Further investigation and witness statements determined relatives in Guatemala had received a call that Pineda had become ill and died on the trip. The unknown caller also provided directions to the location where Pineda’s body was found in a vacant lot.

Foul play is not suspected at this time and Pineda’s cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
