Update on Fatal Shooting at 3300 Bayou

February 17, 2008 - Houston police have learned the identity of a man fatally shot in the 3300 block of Bayou about 3:20 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 15). 

The victim, Marvin E. Cortez-Hernandez, 24, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Anthony and Senior Police Officer R. W. Chappell reported: 

Mr. Cortez-Hernandez confronted an unknown suspect, who was driving a mini-van. Cortez-Hernandez and the suspect struggled and at some point, Cortez-Hernandez was shot.  The suspect then fled the scene in a red, tan or gold colored mid 1990s mini-van with a broken driver’s side window and fresh damage to the front passenger’s quarter panel. 

Further investigation determined the vehicle belonged to Cortez-Hernandez and the vehicle was later recovered at an undisclosed location.
