Investigation into Shooting at 3100 Cleburne

July 23, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of eight people at 3100 Cleburne about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday (July 22).

The victims, ranging in age from 14 to 21, were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment of non-fatal gunshot wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer M.F. Waters and Officer J. Sosa reported:

The shooting occurred on the campus of Texas Southern University near a parking garage during a “Trey Day” concert.  Several shots were fired by several unknown suspects, resulting in the wounding of eight people. 

HPD’s Homicide Division is the lead agency in the investigation, working with the assistance of the Texas Southern University Department of Public Safety.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
