Update: Suspect Wanted, Charged in Shooting at 5108 Lelia

June 22, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a female at 5108 Lelia about 6:20 a.m. today.

The suspect, Aljero Sentese Collins (b/m, DOB: 1-23-81), is charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony – aggravated assault - in the 230th State District Court.  He is accused in the shooting of his ex-girlfriend, Deanna Wilder, 20, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she is in critical condition.  A photo of suspect Collins is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.H. Roberts and Senior Police Officer B.W. Nabors reported:

Ms. Wilder arrived at her aunt’s home to pick up her child the aunt had kept overnight.  Shortly after her arrival, Collins arrived at the home and forced entry inside.  As he and Wilder argued, Collins pulled a pistol, shot her several times and then fled on foot.
