Photos of "Police Prayer Day" Service

May 13, 2009 - Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt and members of the Houston Police Department joined religious leaders this morning for a special “Day of Prayer” service in front of HPD Headquarters at 1200 Travis.

“Today was a special day and I’m sure all of our officers will benefit from the prayers heard today and the prayers from Houstonians every day,” Chief Hurtt said.  “We have such an awesome responsibility, in that we affect so many lives with the decisions that we make, and it is only with God’s guidance that we are able to do that correctly.”

The officers and religious leaders asked all to pray for those in law enforcement and for: Courage, Officer Safety, Protection, the Ability to Make Sound Decisions, Family Unity, Integrity, Peace, Compassion, Leadership, Community Support, Injured Officers and Families of Slain Officers.

The service was part of an observance of National Police Week dedicated to remembering officers who have given their lives in the line of duty to help make our lives safer.
