Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8054 South Gessner

April 7, 2010 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8054 South Gessner about 4:30 a.m. on March 15.

Both suspects, Andres Morales (H/m, DOB: 9-6-85) and Eduardo Ramirez Cortez (H/m, DOB: 9-12-81), are charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court.

The victim, Manuel Rangel Aguirre, 47, of Houston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Dillingham and Senior Police Officer R. Figueroa reported:

Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at 8054 South Gessner and found the victim, Mr. Aguirre, deceased in the parking lot. Witnesses reported that Aguirre, who was wearing a security guard uniform but was not on duty at the time, was attempting to get into his vehicle when he was approached by two males. A struggle ensued and Aguirre was shot. The two suspects fled in a gray Nissan.

Further investigation developed Morales and Cortez as the two suspects. They were arrested Tuesday night (April 6) without incident.
