Suspect Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 6000 Eastex Freeway

April 12, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 6000 block of the Eastex Freeway (U. S. Highway 59 North) at Kelley about 2:25 p.m. on Sunday (April 11).

The suspect, Agusto Servin Vega (H/m, DOB: 5-7-83) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 176th State District Court.

The female victim, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Brown and Officer F. Bashir reported:

Vega, with the victim as a rear passenger, was driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on the Eastex Freeway when he lost control and struck a concrete divider. The pickup rolled over several times and the victim was ejected and died at the scene. A front seat male passenger, 41, and a female child were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries. Vega was also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries and then taken into custody.
