Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 7414 Breezeway

April 12, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7414 Breezeway about 3:25 a.m. on February 14.

The suspect, Thaxton Johnson (b/m, DOB: 5-24-88), is charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court, accused in the killing of William Thompson, 45, of the above address.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Senior Police Officer C. P. Abbey reported:

An unknown suspect kicked the door open to the residence at 7414 Breezeway and shot Mr. Thompson as he was asleep in his bed. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation identified Johnson as the suspect in the case and he was arrested without incident on Saturday (Apr. 10). The motive in the shooting appears to be robbery. Johnson and Mr. Thompson were acquaintances.
