Fatal Shooting at 400 East 43rd Street


August 30, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 400 East 43rd Street about 3:10 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 29).

The victim, Douglas Wayne Evans, 51, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D. A. Ferguson and Senior Police Officer T. S. Tyler reported:

Mr. Evans picked up a friend who was walking in the area of Crosstimbers and Yale and drove to 400 East 43rd, where they both got out of the vehicle. As the men talked, a 1995 to 2005 red Jeep Cherokee, with possible body damage, was seen driving on the street with at least four suspects inside. Evans' friend left the area and went back to his apartment. While in his apartment, the friend heard a gunshot. The friend went back to the area and found Evans lying in the street with a gunshot wound. The Cherokee was last seen driving eastbound on East 43rd toward Oxford.

The suspects are described only as a black female driver and an additional two to three unknown black suspects.
