UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4914 Weaver


December 22, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man and wounding of a woman at 4914 Weaver about 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 21).

The suspect, Rodrick Anthony Obryant, Jr. (b/m, DOB: 8-2-81), is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Dequarusis Dequan Turner, 19, of the above address.  Mr. Turner suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The female, age unknown, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in an unknown condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. M. Delacruz and Senior Police Officer E. J. Castaneda reported:

Northeast patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above location and found a male and female shot.  Both were then transported to the hospital.  An investigation determined Obryant got into an argument with both victims, which led to the shooting.  Further investigation and witness statements identified Obryant as the suspect.  He was arrested in the 8000 block of Hoffman without incident.
