Robbery Suspect Fatally Shot at 809 Thornton

January 06, 2010 - The fatal shooting of an armed robbery suspect at 809 Thornton about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 2) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The male suspect, age unknown, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. Three other suspects, described only as Hispanic males, remain at large.

The male shooter was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Bush and Officer C. Sturdivant reported:

Four unknown armed suspects confronted the homeowner in the driveway of his residence at 809 Thornton and demanded money. A friend of the homeowner witnessed the robbery and fatally shot one of the suspects. There was then an exchange of gunfire before the remaining three suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.

At this time, it has not been determined if any of the remaining three suspects was struck by gunfire.
