Fatal Traffic Accident at 2400 Pease

January 19, 2010 - A man seriously injured in a traffic accident at 2400 Pease about 3:50 p.m. on January 12 has died from his injuries.

The identity of the victim, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and pronounced dead on Saturday (Jan. 16).

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Law and Officer M. Dumas reported:

The driver of a white Ford Mustang was traveling south on Dowling Street and turned east onto Pease while the victim ran across the roadway. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and the driver waited at the scene until officers arrived. The pedestrian, believed to be a homeless man who frequented the area, was then taken to the hospital with head injuries.

The investigation is continuing with no charges filed at this time.
