Fatal Traffic Accident at 4000 South Loop

January 28, 2010 - Houston police are investigating at fatal traffic accident in the 4000 block of the South Loop (Interstate Highway 610 South) about 10:10 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 27).

The male victim, 49, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer J. Gaona reported:

A silver Harley Road Glyde and a silver Honda Civic were both traveling westbound on the South Loop. Witnesses stated the driver of the Harley was traveling at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass the Civic, lost control and struck the back of the Civic. The driver of the Harley, who was not wearing a helmet, was killed at the scene. Both the female driver and female passenger of the Honda were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.
