Fatal Traffic Accident at 3900 South Loop East

June 15, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3900 block of the South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610) about 5 a.m. today.

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer L. Ho reported:

A blue Nissan Versa was attempting to exit the South Loop East at Stella Link when it struck a silver Honda Accord stopped in the moving lane of traffic for an unknown reason. The Honda then caught fire, killing the driver at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for a possible broken arm.

The investigation is continuing.
