Suspect Charged, Sought in Fatal Shooting at 13612 Almeda

June 22, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 13612 Almeda about 11:50 a.m. on June 17.

The suspect, Larry Darnell Scott (b/m, DOB: 8-21-60), is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. He is wanted in the killing of Derrick Melvin, 34, of Houston, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.C. Padilla and Officer T.A. Andrade reported:

Houston firefighters called police to the above address after discovering Mr. Melvin deceased inside a room at the Almeda Inn. The investigation revealed that Melvin's vehicle was missing. It is a gray 2006 Chevrolet Impala with Texas license plates 979-VPK.

Further investigation identified Scott as the suspect in this case.
