Suspect Arrested in Shooting at 14000 Fleetwell

March 4, 2010 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a female juvenile in the 14000 block of Fleetwell about 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday (March 3).

The suspect, Richard Calderon (H/m, DOB: 9-10-85) faces a murder charge. He is accused in the shooting of Alexis Waley, 13, of Houston. Ms. Waley suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition and is not expected to survive her injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Torres, B. Harris, and B. Williams reported:

Ms. Waley and her mother were traveling in a gray Nissan Altima when Calderon pulled his vehicle (a four-door Cadillac) out into a lane of traffic, struck the Altima, and then fled the scene. Waley’s mother then chased the Cadillac in her vehicle to get a license plate number. After getting the license plate, the Altima passed the Cadillac and Calderon fired several shots at the Altima, striking Waley. Waley’s mother was not injured in this incident. Calderon was taken into custody a short time later and admitted to his involvement in the shooting.
