Suspect Charged in 2009 Fatal Shooting at 10919 Fondren

March 11, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 10919 Fondren about 7:45 p.m. on March 20, 2009.

Steven Randell Cade (b/m, DOB: 5-28-90) is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court. He is charged with fatally shooting Markquese Dewayne Donahue, 18, and the shooting of a second male, 16, who survived the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. J. Blain, Senior Police Officer J.F. Robles and Officer E. H. Schmidt reported:

Three males were attempting to break a hole in a fence in order to enter the Willows Apartment complex. Mr. Donahue, who lived at the complex, told the males to stop and an argument ensued. Cade shot Donahue and the 16-year-old male.

Further investigation developed Cade as the shooter in this case. On Wednesday (Mar. 10), Cade was taken into custody without incident.
