Charges Filed in Fatal Traffic Accident at 9000 Southwest Freeway
March 15, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 9000 block of the Southwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 South) service road about 6:05 a.m. on Saturday (March 13).
The suspect, Marcelo Daza (H/m, DOB: 8-20-79), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court.
The identity of the victim, who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and pronounced dead, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer D. Harwell reported:
Daza and three passengers were traveling in a Chevrolet Suburban northbound on the Southwest Freeway service road when he lost control of the vehicle while trying to get on the freeway. The Suburban rolled over and a passenger (the victim) was ejected. Daza and the two other passengers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
