Fatal Traffic Accident at 3500 War Memorial March 25, 2010 - A female child injured in a traffic accident in the 3500 block of War Memorial about 9:20 p.m. on Monday (March 22) has died from her injuries. Destiny Garcia, 8, of Houston was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Tuesday (March 23). HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer B.D. Clark reported: A white Mitsubishi Montero was traveling south on War Memorial when Destiny, who was with her mother, abruptly ran into the street and was hit by the vehicle. Witnesses who heard the accident ran over to tend to the child. The driver of the Montero then stopped, walked back to where the child was laying and asked what happened. When witnesses stated a sport utility vehicle hit the child, the driver denied involvement and fled the scene. The investigation is continuing. JKS/VHS 3-25-10
