Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 2020 Leeland

May 7, 2010 - A suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male and wounding of a man at 2020 Leeland about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday (May 1) has been arrested.

The suspect, Brian Chidozie Ezike (b/m, DOB: 9-16-91), is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court. Ezike was arrested today (May 7) in Laredo, Texas, while attempting to cross the border. He is currently in the Webb County Jail.

The victim, Jaylon Calloway, 14, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second male, 18, was shot in the thigh and treated and released from an area hospital

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers T. Miller and S. Anderson reported:

Two groups of individuals got into a verbal altercation during a party at a nightclub involving teenagers. The argument turned into a fistfight and then escalated into gunfire when a number of people pulled out guns and started shooting. Calloway was fatally struck and another male was wounded.

Information obtained through a Crime Stoppers tip identified Brian Ezike as a suspect in this case.

The investigation in continuing.
