Suspects Arrested After Firing Shots at HPD Officers

May 21, 2010 - Charges are pending against two suspects who fired shots at Houston police officers during a pursuit that ended at 5500 Gasmer about 1:25 a.m. today (May 21).

The suspects, Emmanuel Delgadillo (H/m, DOB: 1-27-92) and Abel Sanchez (H/m, DOB: 3-31-81), face charges of aggravated assault of a police officer.

No HPD officers were injured nor discharged their weapons in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and Officer M. Coleman reported:

The two suspects were driving in a stolen vehicle taken in a carjacking. As Houston police officers attempted to pull over the vehicle on a traffic stop, the suspects evaded them and refused to stop. As the suspects fled, they shot at officers who were in pursuit. After several miles, the suspects crashed the vehicle in a ditch at 5500 Gasmer. Both males were then taken into custody without further incident.

Two weapons were recovered from the suspects. The investigation is continuing.
