Fatal Traffic Accident at 10400 West Hardy Street

May 28, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 10400 block of West Hardy Street about 10:25 p.m. on Thursday (May 27).

The identity of the victim, who was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richard and Officer M. Reyes reported:

A beige Chevrolet pickup truck and a black Ford Mustang were traveling southbound on West Hardy when the vehicles made contact and lost control. The Chevrolet went into a ditch on West Hardy. The Ford went into a ditch, struck a light pole, and then went into another ditch on Wellington. The victim, a rear seat passenger in the Ford, was taken to the hospital and later died. The owner of the Ford was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing.
