Investigation into Death at 5414 Candlemist Drive


November 8, 2010 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a woman found at 5414 Candlemist Drive about 8:25 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 7).

The victim, Mildred Johnson, 86, of the above address,  was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Her niece, Alexis Jones (b/f, DOB: 6-17-86) has been charged with theft in Harris County Criminal Court #3 in connection with items missing from Ms. Johnson's residence. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Senior Police Officer M. Brady reported:

Patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at the above residence when family members had not heard from Ms. Johnson in more than 24 hours.  Ms. Johnson's nephew entered the home after there was no answer at the door and found his aunt dead in the living room.  There was evidence of a previous struggle in the living room.  

While investigators were at the residence, Jones and another male were detained near the residence.  The investigation is continuing.  The male does not face charges at this time.
