Update: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 7639 Dashwood


November 10, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 7639 Dashwood about 2:40 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 6).

The suspect, Esequiel Contreras (H/m, DOB: 12-2-89), is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court.  Contreras, who has an alias of Jonathan Aventura, is accused in the killing of Jose Fernandez-Cardona, 24, of Houston.  Fernandez-Cardona suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzales and Officer R. Olive reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Fernandez-Cardona near the entrance of the El Catrachito Restaurant.  Witnesses reported Fernandez-Cardona was involved in an altercation with three to four unknown suspects.  One of the suspects fired shots at the victim and then all the suspects fled in an unknown vehicle. 

Further investigation identified Contreras as the shooter in this case and he remains at large.
