Investigation into Fatal Stabbing at 6425 Bankside


October 4, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man at 6425 Bankside about 1:20 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 3).

The male victim suffered an apparent stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Chandler and Officer R. Figueroa reported:

Patrol officers responded to a report of a cutting in-progress call at the Bankside Apartments and found the victim inside an apartment with a stab wound to his neck. Witnesses reported the victim and another tenant of the apartment, the suspect, had engaged in a verbal argument which led to the suspect stabbing the victim.

The suspect fled the scene prior to patrol officers arriving. However, he later returned and was taken into custody. No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is continuing. Upon completion, the case will be referred to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for its review.
