Suspect Quincy Johnson

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzales and Officers J. Sosa and R. Olive reported:

When Ms. Willis' relatives went to her residence on Oct. 1 to check on her because she had not been heard from since Sept. 29, they found her deceased in her bed. It was initially believed she died of natural causes. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences conducted an autopsy and determined Willis had been strangled.

Information obtained by investigators determined Johnson, Willis' great-grandson, had recently moved in with her. Further investigation led investigators to Van Zandt County, and on Wednesday (Oct. 13), Johnson was arrested and subsequently confessed to his involvement in his great-grandmother's death.
