Suspects Arrested, Charged in Investigation into Woman's Death at 6 Burress

September 22, 2010 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in an investigation into the death of a woman found at 6 Burress about 3 p.m. last Wednesday (Sept. 15).

Emerson Handy (b/m, DOB: 11-5-64) and Lorri Jones (w/f, DOB: 6-14-58) are charged with burglary of a habitation in the 179th State District Court.  They are accused for their roles in connection with the death of Debora Boudreaux, 60, of the above address.  Ms. Boudreaux had been strangled and several items in her apartment were stolen.  Photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Senior Police Officer C. Abbey reported:

The victim’s caretaker arrived at Ms. Boudreaux’s apartment to help her with medical needs and discovered her deceased inside.  Boudreaux had lived in the complex for some time and required help getting in and out of her bed.

Investigators received a tip regarding the suspect’s identity and information on property stolen from the apartment.  The tip led to Handy’s arrest on Friday (Sept. 17) and Jones’ arrest on Monday (Sept. 20).  Some of the property stolen from Boudreaux has been recovered, but investigators are asking anyone who purchased anything from suspect Handy between last Wednesday (Sept. 15) and Friday (Sept. 17) to contact them.

Anyone with information about this case or who bought property from suspect Emerson “Junior” Handy is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
