Fatal Traffic Accident at 400 Rankin Road

April 6, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 400 Rankin Road about 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday (April 5).

The male victim, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. T. Hall and Senior Police Officer A. N. Taylor reported:

The driver of a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck was northbound on Northborough and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Rankin. The victim was operating a blue Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound in the left lane of Rankin. The right lane of traffic on Rankin had stopped to allow the GMC to proceed across the intersection. As the GMC pulled out into the intersection, the motorcycle struck the GMC. The victim died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
