Surveillance Video of Suspects Wanted in Male's Death at 10701 West Bellfort


April 11, 2011 - Houston police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying two suspects wanted in the beating death of a man found at 10701 West Bellfort about 11:50 p.m. on April 3.

The suspects are described only as two Hispanic males. Surveillance video of the suspects inside and entering a bar near the above location (four different camera angles).


The victim is identified as Benites Marino Tapia, 36, of Houston. Mr. Tapia suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers R. Luhan and L. Carballo reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call in a strip center parking lot. When officers arrived, they learned there had been an altercation between several patrons from the "La Jugada Sports Bar," located in the same strip center. At some point, one of the males (Mr. Tapia) was struck with a baseball bat and a second male was run over by a vehicle. Tapia died at the scene and the second male, 39, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition.

The unknown suspects fled the scene in a possible black Chevrolet Equinox.
