Fatal Shooting at 10011 Epsom

August 1, 2011 - The fatal shooting of a man at 10011 Epsom about 1 a.m. on Sunday (July 31) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male, 23, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The brother of the deceased, 22, suffered a stab wound and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital with non life-threatening wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Padilla and Senior Police Officer R. Bolton reported:

HPD patrol officers responding to an assault in progress call at the above address found one male stabbed and the body of another male who had been fatally shot outside the residence.

Witnesses reported the deceased man was celebrating his wedding when he and his brother got into a fight with several guests, during which the brother was stabbed. At some point, two males ran away to the above address. The groom and his brother tried to enter the home by kicking and beating on the door. The home's resident was inside and, fearing for his life, fired a gun, fatally striking the groom.
