Fatal Traffic Accident at 5600 Southwest Freeway

August 4, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5600 Southwest Freeway (South U. S. Highway 59) about 7:40 a.m. today.

The male victim, Draike Sparks, 49, of Sugarland, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer L. Segura reported:

Mr. Sparks was operating a tan Yamaha Road Star motorcycle southbound in the 5600 block of the Southwest Freeway when traffic came to a stop. According to witnesses, the motorcycle was traveling too fast to stop, swerved into the left emergency lane and then back to the right onto the mainlanes. The motorcycle's footbars struck the roadway and Sparks, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and killed.

There were no other vehicles involved in this accident.
