Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4552 Sunflower

August 8, 2011 - The fatal shooting of a man at 4552 Sunflower about 3:15 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 6) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The victim, Eugene Holder, 54, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper leg and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A male suspect, Lloyd Hunter (b/m, DOB: 3-15-56) is charged with felony possesion of marijuana in the 262nd State District Court. Hunter's involvment in Mr. Holder's death has not been determined at this time. A photo of suspect Hunter is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Senior Police Officer C. Abbey reported:

Southeast Patrol Division officers responded to a shooting call at the above location. When officers arrived, they found the victim conscious and with a gunshot wound. The victim was then transported to the hospital where he later died. While conducting their preliminary investigation, investigators found approximately two pounds of marijuana inside the residence. At this time, there is no known motive for the shooting.
