Update: One Suspect Arrested, Another Sought in Fatal Shooting at 8181 El Mundo

August 11, 2011 - Charges have been filed against one suspect arrested and one still wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8181 El Mundo about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 7).

Detone Lewayne Price (b/m, DOB: 12-9-92) and Corey Trevon Perry (b/m, DOB: 11-30-93) are charged with capital murder in the 178th State District Court. Price is in custody while Perry, the shooter, remains at large. Photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.

Both are charged in the the death of Salem Saif Al Mazrouei, 28, of the above address, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Chandler and Senior Police Officer M. Miller reported:

Mr. Mazrouei and his father were unloading their vehicle in front of their apartment when they were approached by Price and Perry. Perry pulled out a pistol and both suspects then demanded property from Mazrouei and his father. While the two suspects were robbing them, Mazrouei and his father attempted to flee. As the victims were running away, Perry shot Mazrouei several times. The suspects then fled in the victims' vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered unoccupied.

Further investigation led to the identifications of Price and Perry as suspects in this case. On Wednesday (Aug. 10), Price was arrested with incident. Perry remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.
