HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R.D. Chandler and Officer M.J. Miller reported:

Suspect Arzate is the ex common-law husband of the Valdezes' daughter. Arzate and the couple's daughter recently split up after a 10-year relationship and five children. The suspect has a history of violence with the Valdezes' daughter.

On Friday (Aug. 19), Arzate called his ex-wife and told her he was suffering so he would make her suffer too. Arzate, believing his ex-wife was seeing another man, kicked open the front door to the Valdezes' trailer and shouted that he was going to kill everybody. Arzate then opened fire on Guillermo Valdez after Mr. Valdez emerged from his bedroom to find out what all of the commotion was about. Once Mr. Valdez went down, Arzate then continued firing shots at Valdez's wife, Maria, who was struck multiple times, but so far has managed to survive her wounds.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of suspect Francisco Arzate is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
