Update: Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3900 Sherwood Land

February 14, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a male in the 3900 block of Sherwood Lane about 2 a.m. on June 9, 2010.


The suspect, Johnathan Aguirre, also known as "John-O Da Outlaw"(H/m, DOB: 3-27-91) is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. The suspect is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Gist Unit, in Beaumont for an unrelated charge. A photo of the suspect is attached to this news release.

The victim, Paul Gamino, 22, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.E. Elliot and Officer M.F. Stahlin reported:

Mr. Gamino was traveling in a Chrysler 300 sedan with several witnesses when an unknown four-door sedan pulled alongside the Chrysler and began shooting in their direction. The suspect's vehicle then continued westbound on Sherwood Lane toward Mangum. Mr. Gamino was a passenger in the back left seat and was struck. The witnesses then transported Mr. Gamino to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was then airlifted via Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Further investigation developed information that identified Aguirre as a suspect in his case.Investigators traveled to Beaumont to interview Aguirre regarding his role in the incident.
