February 21, 2011 - The fatal shooting of a man at 1251 Wilcrest #80 about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 20) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male, 17, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 19, was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Khan, M. Condon and S. Duron reported:

The 17-year-old male (deceased) and 19-year-old male (shooter) were acquaintances. Earlier in the day, the 17-year-old commited a drive-by shooting on the apartment of the shooter's friend. The shooter learned of the incident and went to his apartment. As the shooter walked into his apartment and went upstairs, the 17-year-old male walked in behind him. The 17-year-old, highly intoxicated, bragged about shooting the friend's apartment, and then attempted to retrieve a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband. The shooter retrieved his rifle, shot toward the 17-year-old and struck him several times. The shooter then ran to a nearby gas station, flagged down a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable and advised him of the incident.

The investigation is continuing.
