Fatal Traffic Accident at 10600 South Gessner


January 10, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10600 South Gessner about 4:10 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 9).

The identity of the deceased male victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Love and Officer C. Lofland reported:

The victim was driving a red Saturn S-12 westbound on South Gessner.  Witnesses said a blue Ford F-250 traveling north in the 10200 block of the Sam Houston Parkway service road ran a red light at the above intersection and struck the Saturn.  The driver of the Saturn died at the scene, while his passenger suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

There were no signs of intoxication in the accident and no charges have been filed at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
