Fatal Traffic Accident at 6100 Southwest Freeway


July 18, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6100 block of the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday (July 16).

The male victim, 65, of Sugar Land, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity and cause of death are pending autopsy results by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer D. Ashford reported:

The victim was driving a silver Isuzu Trooper northbound on the Southwest Freeway near Chimney Rock when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the center median.  The vehicle then crossed all main lanes of the freeway and hit the guardrail on the right shoulder.  When Houston Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, they found the male in apparent cardiac arrest.  The victim was transported to the hospital where he later was pronounced deceased.  No other persons or vehicles were involved in the accident.
