Suspect Sought in Sexual Assault and Shooting of Woman

July 25, 2011 - Houston police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a man wanted in the sexual assault and shooting of a woman last Thursday (July 21).

The suspect is described only as a black male, 25-30 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build.  His hair was in corn rows, tied in a pony tail with beads at the back of the neck.  He was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt, blue jeans with red and yellow letters on the leg, possibly spelling the word "love," and Air Jordan tennis shoes with black tops and white soles.

A composite sketch of the suspect is attached to this news release.

The female victim, 27, suffered a gunshot wound to her left shoulder and was treated and released from an area hospital.

HPD Special Crimes Division Sergeant C. Blomberg reported:

About 12:30 a.m., the woman was attempting to enter her apartment in the 9800 block of Meadowglen Lane when she was attacked from behind by a masked suspect.

The suspect sexually assaulted the woman in her apartment.  He then forced her into her vehicle, drove around for several hours and then walked her into a field near the South Sam Houston Parkway West and FM 521 (Almeda Road).  The suspect then shot the woman in her left shoulder and fled the scene in her vehicle.

Anyone with information in this case or who recognizes the male in the composite sketch is urged to contact the HPD Special Crimes Division at 713-308-1100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
