Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 5900 Westheimer

June 27, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 5900 block of Westheimer about 1:20 a.m. today.

The male victim, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Senior Police Officer J. Gaona reported:

The victim walked into a moving lane of traffic in the 5900 block of Westheimer near Fountainview and was struck by a dark blue or black pickup truck. The truck fled the scene immediately after the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
