Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9215 Scott Street

March 31, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one male and wounding of five others at 9215 Scott Street about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday (March 30).

The victim, Tremaine Paul, 18, of Houston, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.  Five other males suffered apparent non life-threatening wounds and were transported to area hospitals.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Parker and Senior Police Officer S. Straughter reported:

Patrol officers responded to an assault in-progress call at the above address (Worthing High School campus) and were told there was a large number of people on the football field.  Individuals were on the track, some were playing in a Powder Puff football game, and others were spectators watching the game.

It was learned the assault was a fistfight between two males that escalated into a shooting in which six males were wounded.  Paramedics transported one male (Paul) to the hospital.

Numerous individuals fled the scene before officers arrived and the five wounded males were later found to have gotten transportation to area hospitals.

During the investigation, it was reported that several males in the fight were in different groups.  At this time, it is not known if one group specifically came to fight the other or if the two groups just ended up at the same location.  There were other groups also present along with friends who associate with them.

Anyone with information in identifying who was involved in this incident and/or who fired a weapon is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
