Suspect Sought in Male's Death at 3300 Old Spanish Trail

May 2, 2011 - Houston police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect wanted in the death of a man at 3300 Old Spanish Trail about 2 a.m. on Saturday (April 30).

The suspect is described only as a black female, heavy set and in her mid 30s.  She was wearing a purple top, black shorts and was driving a 2000 black Ford Taurus.

The victim, Dwight Richards, 56, of Houston, suffered wounds from being struck by an automobile and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Hanslik and Senior Police Officer R. Swainson reported:

The female suspect was inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Turning Point night club when she got into an argument with some males.  The suspect got enraged, backed out of the parking space and left the parking lot southbound on Allegheny Street.  The suspect then turned around on Allegheny, turned off her headlights, accelerated her vehicle in an unsafe manner and headed back toward the club.  Mr. Richards, who was in the intersection with other persons leaving the club, was struck by the Taurus and knocked into another lane of traffic.  A second vehicle, described only as a white sports utility vehicle not involved in the earlier incident, was traveling eastbound on Old Spanish Trail and struck Richards.  Both vehicles, the black Taurus and the white SUV fled the scene.

Anyone with information in this case or on the identity of the wanted female driver of the Ford Taurus or of the white SUV is urged to contact the HPD Homicide or Vehicular Crimes Divisions at 713-308-3600 or 713-247-4072 respectively, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
