May 23, 2011 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man and woman found at 8914 Ferdinand about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday (May 21).

Jeffery Keith Prevost (b/m, DOB: 7/22/59) is charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court.  He is accused in the deaths of Sherry White, 51, and her son, Kyle Lavergne, 20, both of the above address.  The victims suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.  A photo of suspect Prevost is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Bush and Senior Police Officer C. Sturdivant reported:

At the request of family members, patrol officers responded to a call to check on the welfare of persons at 8914 Ferdinand.  Family members stated they had not spoken to either victim for more than 24 hours and that Ms. White also had not shown up for work on Friday (May 20).  Officers made entry into the home and found both White and Lavergne deceased.

After questioning several witnesses and family members, investigators spoke to Prevost, who confessed to killing both victims.  Prevost had been romantically involved with White for approximately two months and stated he killed her out of jealousy.  He further stated he killed Lavergne as he tried to flee the home.
