Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 6220 Fairdale

November 9, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 6220 Fairdale about 9:10 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Javon Bernard Bryant-Metoyer (b/m, DOB: 7-22-92) is charged with capital murder in the 182nd State District Court.  No photo of Bryant-Metoyer is available at this time.

The victim, Esvin Sabonluis, 27, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer R. Swainson and Officer C. Sturdivant reported:

Mr. Sabonluis and his wife were walking from their apartment to their vehicle in the parking lot when they were approached and greeted casually by two unknown black male suspects.  As Sabonluis and his wife got into their vehicle, the suspects robbed them at gunpoint.  While demanding the victims' property, the suspects shot and killed Sabonluis.  It is believed the suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation determined the suspects had arrived at the Fairdale location in a vehicle stolen in a robbery at 12475 Woodforest the previous day.  In that incident, a male victim was robbed of his vehicle, wallet and cell phone by four black male suspects.  The vehicle, a black Chevrolet Avalanche, was located abandoned at the Fairdale location.

A Crime Stoppers tip led to the identification of Bryant-Metoyer as a suspect in this case and on Tuesday (Nov. 8), he was arrested without incident.  The search continues for the second suspect, described only as a black male in his early to mid 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with dark skin and a thin build.

Anyone with information in this case, or on the whereabouts of the second suspect, is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
