Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3904 Kress

October 26, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 3904 Kress about 3:40 p.m. on July 17, 2011.

Kenneth Ray Nelms, Jr. (b/m, DOB: 1-16-92) is charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Terrance Nelson, 28, of the above address, who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Nelms is currently in the Harris County Jail for unrelated robbery charges.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Deese and Officer N. Wackman reported:

Officers responded to a report of a burglary at the above address and found Mr. Nelson deceased. He appeared to have been killed in a home invasion. A preliminary investigation revealed that his 2007 Dodge Charger was missing.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Nelms as the suspect in this case. On Monday (Oct. 24) Nelms was charged in the death of Nelson.
