Suspect Wanted, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 1600 Studemont

August 13, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in a fatal traffic accident at 1600 Studemont on Saturday (Aug. 11).
The suspect, Shannon Michelle Garcia (H/f, DOB: 7-12-87), is charged with accident involving injury or death in the 178th State District Court. A photo of Garcia, who remains at large, is not available at this time.

The male victim, 33, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died from his injuries. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer N. Rosenblatt reported:

The victim was operating a black Honda Goldwing motorcycle and was at the intersection of Studemont and the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road. The driver of a black Ford Fusion, traveling northbound on Studemont, then struck the rear of the motorcycle and seriously injured the victim. The driver then fled the scene in her vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Garcia as the driver who fled the scene of the accident.
