Investigation into Infant's Death at 10580 Hammerly

August 24, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the death of an infant at 10580 Hammerly #2121 about 2:10 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 23).


The seven-month-old female was transported to Texas Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her idenitity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Officers J. Dominguez and D. Fontenot reported:

The baby was left in the care of her grandfather, who put her down for a nap in the afternoon. Another tenant of the apartment at the above address came home and found the baby unresponsive, between the crib rail and the mattress. HFD paramedics were called to the scene and transported the baby to the hospital where she died.

The investigation is pending autopsy results.
